Styling Tips for Pregnancy
Pregnancy is such a beautiful time of your life. I am so in awe with how our bodies can create and carry a little human for nine months. You might also be thinking about your wardrobe situation over the next nine months. Don’t fear, being pregnant doesn’t always mean that you need to go out and get a whole new wardrobe. There are many transitional pieces that you can incorporate into your wardrobe that can be worn during and post pregnancy.
I always advise my clients that the easiest place to start is with what you already have.
What are items in your current wardrobe that are pregnancy friendly?
Do a wardrobe audit and see which clothing items can work with your bump. You might be surprised, as items such as a maxi skirt can just be worn higher up on the waist. A Bellybelt will help with increasing the longevity of your jeans and many of your flowy dresses will still likely fit.
Invest in some good basics
To get the most out of your wardrobe during pregnancy, invest in some maternity basics. This will allow you to pair the maternity basics with your existing wardrobe.
A few maternity basics that I recommend are:
great pair of maternity jeans that make you look and feel amazing
body-con dress made from jersey, that has plenty of stretch and shows off your curves
jersey pencil skirt that can be styled for both the warmer and cooler months
basic tops including singlets and t-shirts
good maternity bras
Try and stick to pieces that will grow with your bump and last for the full term of your pregnancy.
If you really need to shop…
You really want pieces that will extend to your post pregnancy, I suggest that you stick to classic pieces that will transition into your current wardrobe. This will ensure that you don’t end up with a wardrobe full of maternity clothes! Styles that work during and post pregnancy are:
Long maxi dress paired with denim and leather jackets
Lightweight trench coat paired with a maxi dress
Oversized sweater paired with maternity jeans
Long cardigan that can be worn with jersey pencil skirt and basic tops
Floaty tops that can be paired with maternity jeans
Denim shirt paired with long a maxi dress
Happy styling!! xx
